Are you looking for a room accent with a unique, fun yet elegant style? Running into the same-old same-old? The Hellenic Rugs Mushroom Flokati Rug may be right up your alley. The rug's great brown-beige color fits right in with any color scheme, while the retro shag look adds an edgy, novel touch to your decor. This is not the synthetic shag style of yesteryear. The natural fibers of this rug are so exquisitely soft and decadently thick, you'll invent reasons to walk across it. This rug is also machine-washable, making it ultra-comfortable, and handmade from natural New Zealand wool, making it earth-friendly.
All of that being said, the most incredible feature of this rug may really be its deep historical roots. It is actually crafted in Greece in a traditional hand-woven, hand-sewn style that dates back two thousand years, by a family with 400 years of Flokati-making experience. This makes the Hellenic Mushroom Flokati more than an art piece, and more than a home accent. It is actually a testament to how excellence, quality, and tradition can combine to make something beautiful that stands the test of time.
The Hellenic Rugs Flokati 3A Heavy Rug is available in a premium heavy weight of 2,000 grams per square meter, compared to the standard New Flokati Rug weight of 1,400 grams per square meter. About Flokati rugs
Invented by the Vlachs in a small Pindos mountain village in 5th-century Greece, Flokati rugs were first used to keep shepherds and villagers warm. Village women would craft the rugs in a way that has changed little over time. Flokati rugs are first hand-woven and then hand-stitched. Following this process, they are placed in friction baths created from waterfalls in the Pindos mountains, where the intense water pressure unravels the pile and fluffs them out. The rugs are then carefully hung out to dry and inspected to ensure quality.
Today, Flokati rugs are recognized for their unparalleled quality and unique and deeply rooted artistry. The Mazarakis family has been crafting these rugs for over 400 years, and, through Hellenic Rug Imports, Inc., they make their superior knowledge and superb craftsmanship available to the American consumer.
